Holiday Food Recovery

Updated: Oct 18, 2019

With the holiday cornucopia of foods and sweets, though certainly a blessing to savor...it takes some awareness and discipline not to overindulge. However, if you did (and most of us do), there are some proactive methods to help aid digestion and release unwanted toxins while restoring balance.

Ginger helps do exactly that, relieving the body of toxins as it kindles the appetite promoting healthy digestion. Ginger also helps with constipation. Ginger water or ginger tea is made by simply adding crushed fresh ginger to hot water allowing it to steep. If ginger's not your thing, moving your body a little extra is great help. Happy baby pose massages the stomach internally while stimulating the digestive system. Child pose is a comforting pose which also compresses the abdomen and massages the organs internally, while it offers the opportunity for a nice spinal stretch, as well. Doterra offers an essential oil named DigestZen. This oil is crafted using ginger, peppermint, tarragon, and other oils to help ease bloating, nausea, and indigestion. I find it useful to massage in a clockwork motion over the abdominal area when needed. Also let’s not forget, maintaining your natural sleep cycle will help keep your body's rhythm in sync. Finally, no judgement, be loving with yourself.
